Hidden Treasure

“Have you ever wished that you had something or had a need for something that just showed up on its own? We all know that God knows about all our needs and wants and provides for those according to His will, but sometimes He sends someone like Taney Brazeal. Taney has only been volunteering with us for a few months, but he undoubtedly shows up with the exact thing we just prayed for and at the exact right time! His quiet presence has become something we look forward to each week and he clearly has his ear turned to the Father’s heart when it comes to the needs of Grace Klein Community. He has been an enormous help with the accumulation of Christmas toys, the packing and unpacking of them, even bringing boxes from his own house, to the distributing and delivering of those toys and our monthly food delivery. It has been a wonderful sight to see God work in this man’s life and tug on his heart strings a little each day to bring him from a once a month visit to becoming a regular weekly volunteer.

“My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.” Colossians 2:22-23

In his own words, Taney says of his relationship with GKC, “After both my parents passed away last February, I had a lot more of my time available for other things, so I sought a place to serve. After hearing a presentation at the Rotary Club on Grace Klein Community that left me with the impression that GKC was a ministry that desired to help those in need, I decided to check them out. I wanted to see if my first impression was accurate, so I started off small, bringing just a few things in the beginning. As they gained my trust, I bought and brought more and more stuff knowing that my gifts would be well used by GKC. The highlight of my experience thus far was participating in the monthly food and gift box delivery on December 22. That is when I got a glimpse of how big this wonderful community is. The Spirit is definitely working through this community.”

And we see the Spirit working directly through you, Taney Brazeal. How awesome it is to know that you sought us out like hidden treasure and found that the secret to our success is Jesus, through the love and friendship and community that is within our volunteers! Taney, we treasure you!” – Tracie Mark Smith
