The Church at Brookhills Youth – Serve Day

  • by

Brookhills Serve DayOn November 5, 2016, around 100 youth from The Church at Brookhills served at various Grace Klein Community sites all around the city. For approximately 3.5 hours, the youth and chaperones worked with hearts willing to serve, no matter how challenging the task.

As Grace Klein Community serves in various areas, both locally and around the world, there’s always an overflow of work to be done.

A number of the young ladies served with volunteer, Dana Owens, preparing ready to eat home cooked meals that are distributed to families in need. Liberty Church graciously provided the use of their kitchen, where the young ladies prepared 30 meals, while others were washing the church vehicles as a way to bless the Liberty staff members.

Brookhills Serve DayAnother group served at Metro CME, an additional partner ministry of Grace Klein Community who serves with the monthly food delivery ministry. The group assisted by cleaning various rooms in the church, as well as sorting and organizing donated clothing. Metro CME has a donation room, similar to our Give and Take room at the Grace Klein Community office, primarily stocked from donations given to Grace Klein Community.

Another team served at the Grace Klein Community office, assisting with the chicken coop with one of our enthusiastic and knowledgeable volunteers from Simply Infused, turning the compost, sorting canned donations, breaking down boxes for the recycling bin, organizing and sorting the give and take room, and all around yard clean up. Others served at the Grace Klein Community house cleaning the yard and taking care of a few things around the home, while another group served at the home of a retired widow by raking and bagging leaves, and cleaning her yard. The leaves were great for our compost bin at the office.

Brookhills Serve DayA group of ladies served at another partner ministry, Purpose Place, a faith based community thrift market dedicating to employing, embracing and encouraging individuals with special needs. The team served by sorting donations and all around store clean up.

We’re so thankful to the Brook Hills Youth and Grace Klein Community volunteers who assisted with the serve day.
