As many of you may know, Grace Klein Community had planned to send a team to Livingstone, Zambia in January 2016, to love, encourage and support the children and staff of Kwathu Children’s Home. The team has been praying lights out for the trip and are crazy excited to see what God has in store. Earlier this year, Grace Klein Community celebrated with Kwathu Children’s Home as they were able to move to the land that community members have prayed for and cared for over the years. YAY GOD!!
However, due to the inflation in Zambia, the cost of building supplies, food, and other necessities has doubled, creating a greater need for financial support for the children’s home to, not only carry the monthly running costs, but also for us to build. With these concerns in mind, we have had to move the trip to June 2016, in order to raise sufficient support for the tasks at hand.
Our goal for this trip is to build and stock a chicken house on the property. The chicken house will be a huge asset for the home providing much needed protein for the children and staff, along with being able to sell the overflow of eggs. This will help reduce the running costs and also be a fantastic learning opportunity for the children.
The travel cost per member is $2,000 and we are praying for a God size miracle to finish covering the cost. Roughly $3,000 is needed to cover the cost of the chicken house and feed. We are also collecting items to send with the team such as: vitamins, toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, feminine products, soap, educational games, school supplies, clothing (baby and adult), shoes (children’s and adult sizes), water bottles, lunch bags, back packs, plastic bowls, eating utensils, towels, twin size sheets (20 sets) and craft supplies. We encourage you to be praying about how you can give towards this trip. Also, pray for the team that is heading to Africa. We, as a community, want to encourage and stand behind this team as they go and care for vulnerable children and work towards getting this home as self sustainable as possible.
We’re moving on in faith! Some of the team members got their yellow fever shots yesterday in preparation, and everyone’s home has a little stack of supplies that have already been gathered. We’ve raised $2,300 in just a few shorts weeks, and trusting in God’s hand of provision for the shortage of funding. We’d like to have all the funds raised as soon as possible to get the most affordable tickets available.
