Building Trusted Partners in the Business Community

DSC_4937On March 22nd, Grace Klein Community hosted our third “Networking for a Cause” event at Vecchia Pizzeria and Mercato in the Preserve. A quarterly event, Networking for a Cause began last year as a way for business professionals to meet new people and build relationships while raising money to benefit Grace Klein Community.

Over a four hour period, approximately 150 people came by to mingle, eat, and listen to music from Jason Mayo on the patio at Vecchia. It was a fun evening with several great door prizes including coffee from Seeds Coffee Company and gift cards from Pie Five Pizza. Several items were also donated for a silent auction. Approximately $1,300.00 was raised to help Grace Klein Community provide food, clothing, and household items to families in need.

You may ask yourself, why a networking event? Business professionals rely on networking events to build new relationships and expand their business. There are networking events held multiple times each month all over the Birmingham area. So, why do people attend a business networking event? The short answer… to meet new people. Meeting a variety of professionals provides a forum to present your business, introduce you to new clients, and build trusted partners in the business community.

An aspect of the mission of Grace Klein Community is to create authentic community by uniting individuals and businesses to work together by sharing what they have in order to meet physical and spiritual needs both locally and globally. Such events help professionals identify specific ways they can be involved with meeting needs in the community. For example, if they have a passion for families struggling with poverty, then they may get involved with food delivery. One attendee realized that her trash was another persons treasure, and she will now give her restaurant excess instead of discarding. Attendees are provided an easy way to plug into an area of ministry, to wish they express interest, in order to begin making a difference.

A special “Thank You” to the sponsors below that made this event possible.

  • Christian Brothers Automotive – Brandon Fisher
  • RealtySouth – Joe Bryant
  • Interlinc Mortgage – Trey Horton
  • Vecchia Pizzeria and Mercato
  • AC Financial Partners – John Bullard
  • RedWave Technology Group – Chase Webb

Our next event will be held on June 28th, 2016, at Rojo Birmingham.
