It Just So Happened…

Leading up to a big day, Grace Klein Community members were scrambling around, taking care of last minute arrangements for a global fundraising event, the Djembe Drum Circle.

Fearing the unknown of how many would attend, we questioned whether we’d have sufficient time and/or volunteers to complete all that was necessary for a successful event. Late nights often turned into early mornings as we brainstormed, prepared and planned.

It just so happened, that a group of pharmacy students from Samford University were looking for a serve project for April 16, 2016. It just so happened that the global fundraiser was scheduled for April 16, 2016.

DSC_5243So, what do you do when a group of 40 pharmacy students offer their time to serve, on the very day of an event? Praise Jesus…and put them to work.

The team put their crafty hands to cardboard, painting creative signs and other decor for the event. They let the tears roll as they cuts onions, and got their hands “dirty” as they prepared hamburger patties, the sausages, and cut buns.

As Grace Klein Community serves in various areas, both locally and around the world, there’s always an overflow of work to be done, yet often the labors are few. The team also graciously helped at the office, assisting with the chicken coop, recycling bin, give and take room, pressure washing, and all around yard clean up.

We’re so thankful to all the Samford Pharmacy students and Grace Klein Community volunteers who assisted with the serve day. Many hands make light work!

If your church, school, or business is interested in serving with Grace Klein Community, email [email protected] for details. It’s a great way to be involved.
