Tarrant Elementary School Field Day

On May 19, 2017, Grace Klein Community volunteers assisted Coach Julie Levan with Field Day at Tarrant Elementary School. Julie, a long time food delivery volunteer, started running field day for Tarrant Elementary School in 2014, which was her first year as a PE teacher.

Coach Levan has such a gift for getting the kids, teachers, parents and volunteers excited about exercising and enjoying the outdoors. Her organizational skills are outstanding. Can you imagine running a field day for approximately 500 children, kindergarten thru second grade, without any hiccups?

The kids jumped hurdles, danced with ribbons, played soccer, rocked the tee-ball, showed off their skills on the hula hoops, ran 6o meter relays and got soaked during the water sports. How fun! The day was filled with sunshine, laughter, hugs, high fives and tons of smiles.

Every child was a winner. A young boy, who won a ribbon for third place in the 60 meter relay, began jumping with excitement that he had won the gold ribbon. His eyes were fixed on the prize, not his position. I was reminded of the following scripture in Philippians:

“I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 3:14

We are so thankful to be included in the Field Day each year, and honored to partner with Tarrant Elementary School.
