Traveling for Thanksgiving?

  • by

Let’s get prepared by combining resources and equip Grace Klein Community serve teams to create gift bags for any of us traveling for the holiday.

Our family takes these bags along and it brings a smile and encouragement to so many strangers. It’s like sprinkling a little taste of Jesus wherever we go.

We stuff ziplock bags with the following:

  • Index card (volunteers will write encouraging scripture)
  • Shampoo
  • Soap
  • Conditioner
  • Travel size Kleenex
  • Chapstick
  • Deodorant
  • Toothbrush
  • Toothpaste
  • Mouth Wash
  • Nail clippers
  • Lotion
  • Band Aids
  • McDonalds gift card (if we get fancy)

Check your house or the Dollar General for any of these NEW items and drop items by The House on the Hill at 3416 Deerwood Circle, Vestavia Hills, AL 35216. You can leave your donations on the front porch.

EMAIL US to let us know how many gift bags you wish to take along on your journey to share with fast food workers, gas station attendants, coffee baristas, homeless friends, etc. throughout your travels. We will email you when they are ready for pickup.

Sign up for more bags than you think you need. One time we saw a feeding line and spent time visiting with the people and giving out the gift bags. We had two boxes left and we gave away all we had. Talk about inspiring. Many of the people we met were struggling due to unforeseen circumstances and God really encouraged them through a small gesture.

Take away the stuff and we are all the same – a regular person who needs to know that we are loved and that we matter.
