“Ask and it will be given to you.”

“Blessed are the merciful, or they shall obtain mercy.” – Matthew 5:7

Lord have mercy, not again!!! An early morning exclamation heard a few days before Thanksgiving that resonated through the basement after the discovery that one of our largest refrigerators had once again gone out. An unfortunate occurrence in the food business, but one that can be detrimental, even deadly to the food rescue business. Food that is already compromised, nearly expired or past it’s labeled “sell by” date, desperately needs to be refrigerated at all times, so when one of our largest refrigerators goes out or needs servicing, it could mean the loss of critical food or milk for many, many families and that’s a big, big deal to Grace Klein.

“So what are we going to do?” We talked it over amongst the staff and we prayed. First and foremost we put the need before our Heavenly Father. Then we put out a call to our friends. We asked for help from our volunteers and donors to please spread the word about our need. We went ahead with our previously scheduled open house and mentioned the need to our guests. We cast our net and we believed for the results.

And He answered.

“Praise be to the Lord, for He has heard my cry for mercy.” – Psalm 28:6

The Lord spoke clearly to a couple of our guests who attended our open house and saw the need. They were to provide us with a new refrigerator and they immediately obeyed and blessed us with a BRAND NEW REFRIGERATOR! Literally less than 24 hours after we announced the need. We are so very blessed and honored to be the recipients of a beautiful new Max Cold commercial refrigerator that so perfectly accommodates all of our precious rescued food. We would like to thank Kenny and Ann Horne and the Cahaba Dog Park for truly being the hands and feet of Jesus in our time of need! We love you and our new fridge!
