Word from Yo ‘Mama Beka’

“The last six weeks have been such a blessing. It is still hard at times to even believe that I am here in beautiful Zambia.

I have had many wonderful experiences including going to a village church. Though the church was just a small covered room, it was filled with the Spirit and I so enjoyed my time of worship there.

On my off days I have been able to spend some time going to town and seeing Victoria Falls to reflect on what the Lord is doing in my heart.

I have been able to get to know the Kids at Kwathu in a whole new way. Though I usually gravitate to the younger ones, I have had some great times getting to know the older children better as well. Connections are definitely building with each day I am here.

I have spent the last 3 weeks teaching pre school at Highlands Creative Academy. There are some things that are different here with the culture and it was hard to adjust at first. However, with young children some things are always the same. They all want love and attention and they want to be silly and just be kids. This week has been the best as I was really able to connect with two boys that have been standoffish since I have been here. I am blessed with a great bunch of kids and I enjoy teaching them.

In recent days, I have found myself getting a little home sick and craving some things that are truly southern, like grits….I would really love a bowl of cheese grits right about now. As I am feeling this way, it has been great to read encouraging letters and messages from family and friends.

God continues to provide what I need in ways I would have never even thought of and I am very grateful for all the prayers and support that have been given.” – Rebekah Lowrey
