The week before Christmas, Grace Klein Community received a massive donation from Boy Scout Troop 23 from Discovery United Methodist Church. For the Christmas season, Troop 23 organizes a food drive. Last year, they distributed approximately 1000 paper bags with letters throughout Hoover neighborhoods, collected the food, and delivered it all to Grace Klein Community to assist with our monthly food delivery ministry. THIS YEAR, Boy Scout Troop 23 decided to expand the project and distributed 3,000 bags to Hoover neighborhoods. The troop collected the bags of food on December 16th and delivered a packed trailer full of donations to our office on December 20th. The quantity of canned goods was so large, the troop and volunteers stacked them almost waist high on 5 pallets. The scouts and leaders then stayed and helped organize and sort the food to prepare for our monthly food delivery to local families. We are thankful for Eric, Ted, all of the leadership, and the incredible scouts of Troop 23 as they continue to actively serve the greater community of Birmingham, Alabama.
“Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.” – Luke 6:38
