“The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon; planted in the house of the Lord, they will flourish in the courts of our God. They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green, proclaiming, “The Lord is upright; he is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in him.” – Psalm 92:12-15
On February 5, 2019, Natalie Spronk and Jenny Waltman were invited to share at Galleria Woods Retirement Community as part of their “Do Good” initiative for February. As a community, they wanted to join hands with Grace Klein Community to help collect some needed items for our food delivery families.
We shared the history of Grace Klein Community and how their involvement can create lasting change locally and around the world. They planned a shopping excursion and a field trip to come tour our office later in the month.
When three of them braved the rainy weather to come bring the donations, they were able to see a portion of food delivery prep and know that the bread they just bought would be headed out to families.
Over 10 bags of food and toiletries as well as 5 boxes of clothing and books were given by the Galleria Woods residents. One of the residents even wrote index cards of scripture until she could not write anymore. We will distribute the encouraging scripture to food box recipients, volunteers who come by our office and in our thank you notes.
Another resident spends her Tuesdays helping sort donations in our Give and Take Room while another is a committed daily prayer warrior of Grace Klein Community.
These precious residents are fresh and green, continuing to bear fruit in the later years of their lives. What a treasure to know our God uses us in every stage of our lives to “do good” and share how good He is!
