“But Ruth replied, “Don’t urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God.” – Ruth 1:16
There is no more fitting verse in the Bible to describe these two ladies than this passage from Ruth. Besides the fact that one is named Ruthie and the other Barbara, the two are virtually inseparable, just like in this Scripture. It’s a rarity to find one at Grace Klein Community working without the other and they most always ride together wherever they go.
The funniest thing about these two friends is their almost incessant bickering and playful jabs at each other to pass the time while they work. They would tell you they do not like each other one bit and they try so hard to keep up the façade, but the truth always wins out and you can see the love they have for each other is as real as the love that they share with everyone that comes into Grace Klein.
What a joy and a blessing to have regular volunteers like Ruthie Mitchell and Barbara Pollard that love coming to pour themselves into whatever task we have for the day. I have sat beside them weeding out strawberries in the hot sun and I have left them my keys for them to close shop when I had to leave early. They are as trustworthy and as loyal as they come. We are so very thankful to these two ladies and for the love and laughter they bring to GKC every single time they come. We love you ladies! We are definitely better together!!
