Hello, again!
Since our last update, we’ve received more positive feedback than expected. Friends online and in person want to know more… well, so do we. I understand it may be easier for us to label and process seasons of life once we’re out of them, but let me try to paint for you the current season we are in. We got married just over four months ago. We returned to a country that has been home to us but still isn’t either of our home countries. We didn’t return to the community, house, or jobs we came from. All new. My husband is better at braving this storm and I have been a hot mess – inside and sometimes outside. Don’t get me wrong, I love our life… I’m learning a lot.
One thing we are learning is to wait on the Lord. Wait.
Wait.
Nothing? Still, wait. Hands wide open? Wait.
Just the other day as we (but mostly me) were having a less-than-ideal day of purchasing and moving new furniture across town, a veteran missionary just applauded the time we have in this season to wait. She encouraged me that to sit in prayer now will be immensely valuable for future ministry and even the ministry we have to each other.
I tend to “go American” and put unattainable expectations on us. (One reason I love my African husband.) Yet with each new conversation Enza and I have with friends we have been deeply encouraged that the “now” is a good place to be. There is no “rush” with God’s timing. No “late” with God’s timing. We are training ourselves to listen and respond.
More specifically – in this update, we wanted to be clear about our “wait” with others. (That could be YOU!) Along with prayer and support, there are many things you can do to join us in the waiting. (Sounds exciting already, am I right?) Though we have the land and the dream we are seeking a community to grow with as we journey. That means conversations with people from the education world, business/finance, fundraising, lover of kiddos, ministry, and beyond. Enza and I are eager to ask questions and learn more. So if you’re someone either more interested in our dream of a school in Côte d’Ivoire or have knowledge or a skill you think would help us out – PLEASE contact us.
In other news, we are planning our trip to Côte d’Ivoire over Christmas. Keep us in prayer and we’ll keep you updated!
