HOME UPDATE

BIRTHDAYS- Morgan turned 8 years old on March 26th, 2024. We organized a delightful celebration to mark this significant milestone in his life earlier this month.

Morgan – 8 Years

SCHOOLS- Kwathu School had an amazing day celebrating career day! The students were so excited to showcase the different career paths they are interested in for the future.

CHILD ADMISSION

We are excited to extend a warm welcome to Esther, a remarkable 14-year-old girl who has
already infused our home with joy and positivity. We appreciate the chance to welcome her
into our family and look forward to making cherished memories together. Welcome, Esther!

KWATHU SCHOOL REPORT

In March, teachers were working diligently to cover extensive material and catch up due to the delay in the school opening. They put in extra effort to ensure students received the necessary education despite the challenges faced. The school was buzzing with excitement when Head teacher Harriet set off on a trip to Lusaka to buy 250 much-needed books for the students’ academic success.

PRESENTATION OF SCHOOL BOOKS

New books were recently presented by the head teacher, Madam Harriet, to the teachers. All were incredibly excited to receive the textbooks. The new additions to the collection were warmly welcomed by all.

SCHOOL EXPANSION BUILDING PROJECT

We are expanding to accommodate grades 8 through 9 and adding three new classrooms and two new
offices. The land has been cleared, foundations are set, and construction is in full swing! Stay tuned for a more detailed update in our April newsletter. So much progress to look forward to!

COMMUNITY FEEDING PROGRAM

We identified 25 households in our community that are unable to afford three meals a day due to hardship. As Kwathu, we stepped in to provide these families with lunch every Friday.

WOMEN’S DAY CELEBRATIONS

All Kwathu Women joined the rest of the world in celebrating International Women’s Day! This day serves as a reminder of the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women globally. It is a time to honor the progress made towards gender equality and to recognize the work that still needs to be done.

VOLUNTEER PROGRAM

We were absolutely delighted to welcome Mia. O. Rendle to Kwathu Children’s Home! Her decision to volunteer with us for a period of two months warms our hearts. We are sincerely grateful for her commitment and dedication to supporting our cause. It is our deepest wish that her stay with us is not only fruitful and rewarding but also brings happiness to both our team and the children in our care. Thank you, Mia, for being a part of our journey!

KWATHU FARM

In March, our farm was buzzing with excitement as it was time to sell our chickens. The chicken project was a great success, and all the birds were sold off in no time! We’re thrilled with how well everything went, and we can’t wait to restock and do it all over again soon.
