Our First Summer in Man

  • by

For most educators, summer often brings a chance to take a “break.” But if you’ve ever known someone who truly has a passion for inspiring young people, you know that they never really turn off who they are.

Though Enza and I (Caitlin) have been out of formal classroom teaching roles for three years now, our love for students and teaching hasn’t wavered. Enza has stepped in as a PE substitute and tutored French online, while I’ve coached gymnastics, taught English, and helped middle schoolers with math. Teaching is more than what we do—it’s who we are. And we deeply miss our students.

This summer, we’re thrilled to step back into our calling as educators and influencers here in Man. While the design and construction of Koinonia MCCS are still underway, we’re excited to connect with the young people in our community by hosting sports and English camps. There are still many logistics to figure out—renting facilities, assembling a team of willing friends, and praying for the resources to make it all happen. We trust that God will open the right doors and provide exactly what we need.

Last year as we began drafting our school’s business plan, we stated our vision as, “Education is the catalyst to unify the community as Jesus prayed in John 17.” Please pray with us as we launch this first of many summers reaching out to the students God has prepared for us.
