Have you ever worked with all your might unto the Lord? The kind of work others do not notice or see. Have you risen early and collapsed late to serve the King of Kings? In that obedience, have you felt lonely, isolated and exhausted? Have you continued to be obedient when the way is difficult and the “how far” is unknown??
Agrippa Phiri, director of the Kwathu Children’s Home, is a huge part of Grace Klein Community. Some days, he may not feel our presence or support, but his obedience to Jesus does not waver. Agrippa is committed to fulfilling the vision of Kwathu Children’s Home, a directive he received from Jesus. When the money is tight and the needs are great, he keeps trusting in the One who is always faithful.
Building a children’s home may sound glamorous, but what is awesome about heat, sweat and bugs?! He does not grumble or complain, but awakens for another day of mundane faithfulness. His hope lies in what he cannot yet see. His faith stirs him to obey and his fruit is the growth of children in their care and the growth of his own biological family. When he paints in the wee hours of the morning or sweeps floors at dusk, he isn’t looking for applause. His affirmation is from our God and his contentment remains in little, so many children will one day have much.
Have you sold your only transport to protect the safety of your family? Have you ordered two vans believing God will have the money come in time to pay the bill? What about when food runs low? Have you eaten for less that $1 a day so that others could eat too? Does your family go without air conditioning in over 100 degree temperatures to stretch resources?
Agrippa is a strong member of Grace Klein Community. He prays for all of us, hosts mission teams joyfully and leads by example the simple life of Jesus. We are better for knowing this man of God who puts his wants aside to obey Jesus.
As a member of Grace Klein Community, we are responsible for caring for our friends at Kwathu Children’s Home. When we give, God uses us to help sustain them. When we help find speaking engagements for Kwathu Children’s Home Advocate, Natalie Spronk, we help grow the footprint of Kwathu Children’s Home. God uses our sharing to provide building materials, transport and food for the kids. When we share, we help carry some of their burdens and that obedience fulfills the law of Christ.
