Migraines can be so debilitating. Need quiet, dark room, meds. Sleep helps. No people. Lonely and isolated. Depression, please stay away. Maybe you also struggle with migraines, the ones where you can’t leave your house, can’t go out to dinner, can’t bear the noise of laughing with friends??
But when those headaches give, when the grip of pain leaves, when the sun shines and it doesn’t hurt, you know how to fully live. Meet Kellyann German a Jesus lover, non-profit promoter, fully present, raw and real, woman of God.
As founder of NobleHeart Crafts Foundation, Kellyann helps non-profit organizations with promotion and location of fundraising efforts. She scheduled a booth for Grace Klein Community at the Valleydale Farmer’s Market and we were allowed to participate for multiple fall weekends. Kellyann graciously volunteered to work several festivals to promote Grace Klein Community.
If you haven’t met Kellyann at a craft festival, you may have meet her at a GKC Family Fun Night. She and her husband first came out to enjoy a dinner out at Chubbs Grub Station and now they frequent our monthly Family Fun Nights. Every time they come means a night that migraines aren’t winning. And her laughter is contagious, joyfully living in a moment without pain and without difficulty.
Maybe migraines are a sneaky Jesus gift in spite of all the negative they bring. Knowing and experiencing the presence of a migraine helps life be lived abundantly in the absence of one. It is the strangest thing, but every time Kellyann is around, it’s a celebration of what is for today. Because for this moment of this today, she’s out in a public place, spending time with her community, where lights are on and people are laughing and it’s enjoyment, not pain. Maybe it’s the gift of presence?! She doesn’t look back with regret and she doesn’t think of the future what if. For tonight, she’s feeling good and her choice is to live fully in right now. She makes us better!
Someone hosted a GKC Ladies Night and she came. She shopped from our BeMoreRandom items that were displayed on the kitchen table. She testified to what God is doing amongst a little community of people that are sharing life together. She shared God stories of her experience with Grace Klein Community. She listens, encourages and prays. No one knew about her migraines because they do not define her. People left that night knowing of her love for Christ because out of the overflow of her heart, her mouth speaks.
Kellyann trusts Jesus. She’s not bitter. She’s hopeful and positive. Every good moment she gives the glory to Jesus. Ironically her migraines hate light, but the result of her migraines is a light in her that shines brighter and brighter. She’s taken the path of righteousness.
When she shares community posts, raising awareness about our global and local efforts, she is showing her investment to a community where she belongs. Maybe she’s sitting in a dark room, battling in that moment, but she’s sharing because she’s a contributor to hope in dark places.
Pray for her when she crosses your mind. A community exists for giving and taking. So our give is praying for those migraines to stay away so she can teach us how to fully live the right now. Plan to sit by her at the next Family Fun Night. You’ll love her!
