What’s the point of a challenge? A challenge is a call or an invite to a new task or situation that tests ones abilities and brings about change. Do you dare to say “CHAlleNGE accepted” for the sake of others in our Birmingham community?
By accepting one or more of these challenges, your family frees up financial resources you never knew you had in order to help provide food, clothing, and household items to local families in need.
Challenge 1 – The Brown Bag Challenge
May 8 – 27, 2016
Take your lunch to work and eat dinner at home with your family. Invite another family over for dinner once a week. Donate what you save, by not eating out, to Grace Klein Community through Birdies for Charity. Click HERE to be directed to the Birdies for Charity donations page. All funds receive a 10% match when donating through Birdies for Charity.
Recently one community member chose to pack his own lunch for work and not eat out for one month. He donated $200.
Just taking his lunch to work and cutting back on eating out changed the lives of 24 people in the Birmingham area. That means SIX FAMILIES of 4 WON’T go hungry this week. How many families could you feed by just taking your lunch to work this month?
Challenge 2 – Make it Last May
May 8 – 27, 2016
Take a break from the grocery store and give that bag boy a breather. Eat the food in your freezer. When your pantry starts to run low, you know where you got to go. Take some food to trade or go to a friend and raid.
*The Grace Klein Community office, 2652 Old Rocky Ridge Rd, Hoover, AL 35216, will be open for trading on Sundays from 1-3pm. Donate what you save, by not buying groceries, to Grace Klein Community through Birdies for Charity. Click HERE to be directed to the Birdies for Charity donations page. All funds receive a 10% match when donating through Birdies for Charity.
Challenge 3 – Don’t Sweat It!
May 8 – May 27, 2016
Your kids will be your biggest fans. Get outside to hiking trails, parks, pools, ball fields and back porches to spend time with old friends, meet new friends and share Jesus. Run your AC as little as possible or not at all and give the cool away. Donate what you save to Grace Klein Community through Birdies for Charity. Click HERE to be directed to the Birdies for Charity donations page. All funds receive a 10% match when donating through Birdies for Charity.
* Official Challenge for Change launches on May 8, 2016. Remember, there’s a thing called grace! Some families may require modifications due to dietary restrictions, planned vacations, and prior commitments.
Do you dare?
