When the “Moon” Hits Your Eye Like a Big Pizza Pie

Psalm 118:1 “The Lord is good, his love endures forever.”

Isaiah 40:8 “The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of the Lord endures forever.”

Proverbs 19:21 “Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the purpose of the Lord that prevails.”

These three together, God’s goodness, His never changing promises, and his purpose helped me. Maybe it will help Evan and all of us.”

IMG_7976Other friends took a tray of goodies to Inverness Elementary to encourage the teachers to keep going. School is almost out. Be encouraged and finish strong!

IMG_0442Someone stopped by another friend’s house with a hanging plant. Flowers remind us of life and joy and why we need the rain. Flowers make us smile and remember that God created a flower for His Glory. Whether we see the flowers or not, they are beautiful, intricate and colorful. A flower’s beauty does not depend on our appreciate of it.

Give some scripture, a dessert tray or a hanging plant. Give hugs, prayers and authentic friendship. Give from your capacity or even beyond your capacity. Give as Jesus leads, not from guilt or obligation. Give creatively, secretly and intentionally. Remember, giving is something you get to do, not something you have to do!

Share what you do with [email protected] to be an encouragement to others who also want to take the risk to love.

Here are a few books you may be interested in reading as you journey with Evan… (in addition to the Bible, obviously 😜)

Another friend from Atlanta, GA shared:

“For my Loving Brother Evan Shaggy Moon

I could not believe when I heard the news that my Dear Brother Evan Shaggy Moon has tumor between his brain lobes and he was brought to the Emory hospital. Yesterday I went and met him before surgery. Prayed with him. He was so active and made fun and still acted goofy. Once I walked out of hospital, I could not work and started thinking of him and his life and this sudden shock and started feeling so many “whys.”

Two weeks back, we went and had fun at an Indian restaurant. We made fun of each other, prayed for one another and had spicy food. Felt Loved and had joy in talking to Taylor Hendrick.

I have learned so much from my Brother. He is one of few Brothers I have seen ” not just saying, I follow Christ but shown in actions.” I have seen him go and talk to random people and help them and encourage them in every way he can. He pours out his love onto them. He worked as Youth leader at Blueprint and I have seen how the kids loved him. I have seen him buying snacks for these kids though he is running out of money and I have seen him pouring out during our worship, seen him lying flat and crying several times for others. I have seen his sacrificial love and he is the one who encouraged me several times when I was down and encouraged me to write down all thoughts when I was not able to comprehend so many things at a time.

Brother, we Love You Man. With all our heart we are praying for full recovery Brother. Even though you are going through this difficult phase of life, the Lord is with You Brother. He will never leave you nor forsake you. His rod and staff comforts you. We Praise Lord Jesus for every good thing he has done in your life Brother. He knows your heart. We are waiting to see You Brother soon.”

And then another friend made this video: The Moonment

Be encouraged. Go love and accept love. You are precious. You are a treasure. Jesus died for you and He adores you. Evan would want to remind you…You rock!!! Believe it.

Rejoice with the progress…

IMG_2959Evan’s eaten apple sauce and told his folks he loves them. OF COURSE HE HAS! And when he was asked to show four fingers he displayed the Vulcan salute from Star Trek. OF COURSE HE DID. He’s aware and he’s got his humor. He had another MRI last night and it showed no problems. Whoop whoop. He’s moving on up. He’s in a regular room people!! Blessed be the name of the Lord.

From Evan’s dad:

To me another sign of God’s hand .. I walked to the rest room and on the way back a lady said, “don’t I know you?” It was the mother of one of my Eagle Scouts. She is over the ICU unit that Evan is in. She offered to help us in any way that she can. We are confident that God has us where we are supposed to be. We have had so many people offer to help in any way that they can.

Another cool story – we met a lady that also has family in the ICU. She was hungry and couldn’t find anything to eat, without leaving the area. We were able to give her a cinnamon roll and a snack bag full of fruit, all because we are so blessed with love and support from many of you.

IMG_0467Please remember that we have a long road to go with rehab, therapy, and complete healing. We cannot see all that’s coming around the bend, but Jesus is lighting our way for today’s steps and we are very optimistic.”

Please give them another day without visitors. Evan still needs some good rest and time to sleep. We promise to let you know when it’s the right time to start visiting!

Keep praying!! Healing, peace, joy. Your heart knows what to pray. Get after it!

“Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” – James 5:16
