Camping Week 2015

Grace Klein Community held our annual camping week from May 22nd to June 1st, 2015 this year! There is no greater feeling than that of being away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Fresh air, sunshine, creation, some outdoor fun, and laughter is so good for the soul. Each year, camping week holds a different ‘flavor.’

From dancing in the rain, to swimming, dirty feet, s’mores, and Christmas lights in May, we find our joy in the simplest of things. Seeing something as simple as a friend’s face lighting up, when seeing a firefly for the very first time, makes us realize how much we take for granted.

We love on our friends by doing the craziest of things. Hiding tents in tree’s, being caught by security, and laughing at the results of our innocent actions of fun, all make life’s challenges seem less intimidating to face.  We cry together and laugh together, living the adventure of life as a community. Finding waterfalls along hiking trails and jumping in them, fishing early in the morning and canoeing late at night are some of the ways camping week is fun for the whole family.  Every year we stand in awe of His greatness and immaculate creation!  We want to worship Him more by living, for a little while, in His wide open spaces.  Nothing like living with a bunch of diverse people to grow us in ways we would miss, without taking the risk.

We never let the rain get us down, even though it rained so much this year. When it started pouring, we started dancing! Celebrating life, friendships and freedom in Christ is why we find this week a hidden treasure in the woods.  We pray together, eat together and get sunburned together.  You should mark your calendar to join us next year.
