That moment when you find the freezer door seal has failed. What next? Pray, text and call some ladies. No way can we throw away a freezer of food. Everything is cold, but no longer frozen. Chicken, lots of chicken, and pork chops. See what happens.
Because the body of Christ not only reads the Word, but does what it says, help showed up. Lots of it.
A huge thank you to these ladies:
Dana Owens, Layla Varvoutis, April Allen, Melissa Womack, Tori Johnson, Maria Lutrell, Linda Jacobson, Carol Hinson, Melisa Thomas, Julie Mallette, and Chiropractic Today staff
And a thank you to any other ladies or children that may have helped too!
These ladies went home and turned on crock pots and ovens. Hands got dirty. And they contributed extra ingredients.
They spent hours cutting off fat and deboning chicken. Everything was cooked.
Boiled chicken.
Crockpot chicken.
Baked chicken.
All the appliances were turned on, timers set and everyone waited. Oh yea, and some labeled their ziplock bags. Planning, order, preparation.
And while they waited, some of them prayed. Maybe they all did! Then the timers started going off, the meat was cooked.

Freezer meals. Ready to eat. Maybe you will have an unexpected surgery and need one of these meals, or a death in the family, or a new baby. Or you will know someone and you can stop by the office, grab a frozen meal and deliver it! Community works and it won’t matter who gets the credit for that delicious fajita meat. We will be ready and together we will serve more families. Sharing Jesus through shredded chicken.
Some of these ladies fed their families and some made meals to bless other families.
A freezer of food was salvaged and it had purpose. We could have been lazy and thrown it all away, but nothing was wrong with any of this meat. These friends cared enough to serve. None of them were looking for recognition. They cooked chicken for Jesus.
And He did His work.
Linda delivered food to help three families.
Maria’s friends at Chiropractic Today met together after work and their efforts fed two families.
Another chicken went to a next door neighbor, an answer to prayer of how to minister to them. “They are a Korean couple and there is a language barrier so this was really special. She asked how much she owed and I said no this is a gift from God.”
Another chicken helped a young couple.
We will not know all the families this food ministers to in the days ahead. But, we do know, a bunch of ladies honored Jesus by giving up their time to cook chicken.
Nothing about their effort is easy, it took work and time and giving up the hours they had never planned to be cooking chicken.
And then they had to clean up.
Oh yea, and some saved the chicken broth.
“But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror. For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like. But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.”
