From the Van to the Villages: A Christmas Mission Trip in Mexico
By Roger Sterling
“Nine friends and I were incredibly blessed to use the Grace Klein Community van for a mission trip to Mexico. The experience held more meaningful moments than could ever fit into one blog, but a few highlights capture what made the trip unforgettable.
Serving Families Across Piedras Negras
During our time in Mexico, we provided Christmas meals to more than 2,500 families, gave hundreds of children special Christmas gifts, and ensured every family received something to take home. We also hosted Vacation Bible School at dozens of churches throughout Piedras Negras. I was honored to teach the bible lesson to parents and children.

“Seeing joy on so many faces, especially in places most people never get to visit, changed the way I see serving.”
Moments We’ll Never Forget
We also had the opportunity to visit a women’s prison and an orphanage for individuals with intellectual disabilities. To see the joy on many faces was very cool.
Generosity Touched Our Hearts
The generosity of the churches was overwhelming. They offered us food even though they had little. They shared from their lack not their excess, kindness and generosity coming from their hearts.
Changed by the Journey
Long hours in the van brought us closer with joy, laughter, worship, and meaningful conversations. Relationships grew stronger, faith deepened, and the experience shaped each of us in lasting ways. The journey served everyone involved, both the people we came to serve and the ones who had the privilege to go.
Thank you to Grace Klein Community for continuing to serve people near and far. From Mexico to Ukraine, from South Africa to Birmingham, the impact reaches across the world. I am grateful to be part of a mission changing lives, including my own.” -Roger Sterling, Food Rescue Representative
