EDUCATION

BusFirstly, we would love to express our heartfelt gratitude to Tandeka and Grace Klein Community for their tireless efforts in supporting Kwathu and for helping us meet the need of a bus.

We have been able to purchase two mini buses which will be used for transporting our children to and from school on a daily basis.

Before the purchase of these buses our children had to cover a distance of roughly 10km (6.21 miles) to and from school every day. The buses will also be used for recreation and administration purposes. We are so thankful for this gesture and the children are so delighted!

SUPPORT

GiftsThrough Grace Klein Community, the single focus group from the First Baptist Church of Glen Este, Ohio, USA, sent lovely gifts and handmade blankets for the children. A lady within our community also blessed our children with assorted clothing and shoes. We are so grateful for the growing support from both the local and international community.

WELFARE

Little David, our youngest boy, has been a part of the Kwathu Children’s Home family for a full year now. So much positive transformation has taken place in his life during his time at Kwathu. He has been attending class in a private school and his performance has been outstanding. David is now in pre-school and is able to communicate well in English with everyone including our visiting volunteers. We celebrated David’s 4th Birthday on September 27th, 2014 with his new Kwathu family. We thank everyone who has been part of this journey.

???????On the other hand, we wish to congratulate Gertrude, our social worker, for having passed her driving test and acquiring a SADC driving license. We are so joyful for this great achievement, which is also be beneficial to the ministry.

SOCIAL

It’s so encouraging to see how much Rozaria has grown into a beautiful young girl. She was only two years old when she first became a part of the Kwathu family. February 1st was a very special day as we had a joined birthday celebration of Rozaria who turned 9 years old and our visiting volunteer from Spain, Sara. We had a delicious family lunch, played some games and had two delicious cakes. Rozaria went out for a birthday shopping treat where she bought shoes and assorted food items from the Shoprite store. We are so happy to be part of her life.

???????

???????February 26th was yet another special and memorable day for both the Phiri and Kwathu family. Victoria Phiri celebrated her 2nd birthday! It was such a wonderful moment seeing Victoria, with the help of our house mother, cut her birthday cake!

The following are our next goals for the building project:

  • Preparation for the main shift from town to the new paper.
  • The erection of the second 5,000 liter water tank to supply water to the main house.
  • Fitting of tiles in the 6 remaining rooms.
  • Bathrooms
  • Kitchen
  • Painting

Please continue praying with us on these requests.

  • Pray with us for financial support for the remaining stages on the house (painting, doors, and floor & wall tiles. (We will need $3,000 to complete fitting the tiles for the whole house).
  • Please continue praying for Natalie who is currently being hosted by Grace Klein Community, Birmingham, Alabama creating awareness about the children’s home in hopes to raise further funding for the building project.

We thank all our friends and partners for your prayers, donation and support of any kind to Kwathu Children’s Home.
