On September 13, Grace Klein Community hosted Love India, a benefit dinner for our global partner Madhuri’s Mission.
We gathered at Seeds Coffee Company in Homewood, AL, for an evening of Indian food, live music, coffee and the blending of cultures. When we planned the event, the goal was to raise money to dig a well that will provide water to a place in Andhra Pradesh where missionaries are trained. The week before Love India happened, God provided through a group of believers in Singapore to dig the well! Our focus shifted to providing better care and a place to live for a group of HIV+ children who live in and around Ongole, India. When the evening ended, God had provided almost $2,000 for Madhuri’s Mission!
People from four continents gathered and enjoyed each other as we celebrated God’s work in southern India. We were so humbled by their contributions of food and decorations, and their help and support. Musicians for the evening were Ashley Spurling, Sarah Timothy and Steven Sivley. Many enjoyed face painting by Rebekah Blocher and henna art by Adell Anselmo. We received corporate sponsorship from Bay Leaf Indian Cuisine, Silver Coin Indian Grill, Mimi’s Mini Storage, and Formed Spaces.
Please continue to remember us as we work toward the goal of better care and a place to live for “+ve” (positive) kids in Ongole. HIV has left these children with immense challenges, and many of them are told that they have little value. We want to show them their great worth in Jesus Christ as we provide for their physical, medical and spiritual needs.
Stay informed and plan to join us for the next India gathering. Pray about going to India in January 2016. Give towards travel and expenses for the next team that will travel to India. Help us raise funds to care for the HIV children by hosting a party in your home, booking us to come share with your small group or social club or by engaging your kid’s sport team in a fund raising event through Grace Klein Community. When we all contribute, imagine how much we can love these children in the name of Jesus!!
