Love You to the “Moon” and Back

He experienced complete numbing to his left arm and the left side of his face. Then, he began to slur words, forget names and speak incoherently. Community friends were able to meet him at the emergency room and subsequently Brookwood Medical Center. The cat scan shows 5cm lesion/swelling on the right side of the brain. He had an MRI late last night and the neurosurgeon will schedule a biopsy for Monday, May 16, 2016.

Evan Moon is an active member of Grace Klein Community, serving daily in some capacity. He also lives in the Grace Klein Community House. He never meets a stranger so he makes new friends every single day of his life. He’s a joy bomb, bringing laughter, love and giving into every environment. This week that meant encouraging and lovingly harassing his nurse and making jokes about the awkward expectations of a patient in SICU. If he’s going to do anything, he’s going to let his Light shine.

IMG_4090IMG_6968IMG_7746Evan is one of the most generous people you will ever meet and his goal is to make everyone laugh and feel special. Whether he’s stealing banana loaf, dressing up like a pirate, filling food boxes, painting signs, or befriending all the vendors for his job with Grace Klein Construction, Inc., Evan is fully alive and squeezing the goodness out of every day. Here’s our chance to make him laugh, feel special and remind him that he’s not alone!

When Moses got tired and weary and probably wanted to give up, Aaron and Hur held up his hands. Now we have the privilege to hold up Evan’s hands. So let’s get him a rock (or a comfy recliner) and help him chill and win this battle!

“But Moses’ hands grew weary, so they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it, while Aaron and Hur held up his hands, one on one side, and the other on the other side. So his hands were steady until the going down of the sun.” – Exodus 17:12

IMG_7898No one really knows the financial toil that awaits Evan, but as Evan’s friends and family, let’s get ahead of that unknown and give towards his needs. That way, when he has co-pays, meds and deductibles that are not covered by his insurance, Grace Klein Community will have the donations you share ready in the assistance program funds to keep finances from being a stressor on our friend and his family. We can also help Evan with his other personal bills while he’s not working.

Here’s how you give:

Mail checks to:
Grace Klein Community, Inc., 1678 Montgomery Hwy #104, Birmingham, AL 35216
Memo: Evan Moon Assistance Program

OR Via our websitegracekleincommunity.com/donate

More than anything, pray. Send messages of encouragement to Evan and we will make sure he receives them. Listen to the Lord and share scripture and truth that will provide strength to Evan during this time.
