RECREATION
During the school holiday, the children at Kwathu Home engaged in various recreational activities, including soccer and other enjoyable pastimes. These activities allowed the children to maintain their physical fitness and to savor quality time away from the school environment.
KWATHU SCHOOL
On the 12th of May, 2025, we joyfully welcomed our pupils back to school for the new academic term. The students were filled with excitement as they returned for the beginning of a fresh school term. It was a wonderful day filled with smiles and eagerness for all the adventures and learning that awaited them.
ACADEMIC AWARDS
On May 23rd, we were so happy to award the top two students who did exceptionally well on the Term 1 end-of-term test. The purpose of recognizing their hard work and dedication is to inspire other students to strive for excellence.
CAREER’S DAY
On the 30th of May, we hosted our Friday Careers Day event, and our students were filled with excitement! Each student proudly displayed their chosen professions by dressing up in creative outfits. This activity helped them imagine and explore their future careers in a fun and engaging way.
LABOUR DAY CELEBRATIONS
On the 1st of May, Kwathu celebrated International Labour Day along with the rest of the world. On this special day, we recognized and awarded five of our hardworking employees for their dedication and commitment to Kwathu. Their exemplary work ethic truly embodies our values, and we were thrilled to acknowledge and appreciate their efforts.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH
On the 28th of May, our team participated in a community outreach event in Ngwenya. The primary goal of this activity was to establish a stronger connection with the local community, share the teachings of God, offer prayers for the sick, engage in worship and praise, as well as provide a small donation. We firmly believe in the principle highlighted in the Bible that giving brings greater blessings than receiving. The experience of spreading joy and positivity to those in need left a lasting impact on all of us.
MENSTRUAL HYGIENE DAY
On 28 May each year, people worldwide come together to celebrate Menstrual Hygiene Day. At Kwathu, our dedication lies in assisting young girls in need, whether they attend school or live in the community, by providing them with essential sanitary pads. This simple, yet meaningful gesture allows these girls to focus on their well-being, boost their confidence, and pursue their education or personal goals without any interruptions.

STAFF TRAINING
In May, we also had a two-day staff training session. Among the topics covered were effective communication, leadership, time management, and many other important subjects. These training sessions were organized with the goal of equipping all our staff members with valuable skills and knowledge.

VOLUNTEERS
In May, we were delighted to welcome three volunteers through our partners in America, GraceKlein community. It was such a joy to have them join our incredible team.

KWATHU FARM
Everything is looking great! The okra seems to be thriving despite the cold weather, and we’re expecting to harvest the first block of maize by the end of this month. The butternuts and watermelon are doing fantastic, and we’re planning to start harvesting the green beans this week. And on top of that, the animals are all okay! We recently treated them for an eye problem, and now they’re all happy and healthy.
BOAT CRUISE FUNDRAISER
On May 24, Kwathu organized a boat cruise as a fundraiser for the organization. The event was highly successful, with a total of 110 individuals purchasing tickets for the cruise.
