One of our most recent business partners is Trader Joe’s. One of our community volunteers walked into Trader Joe’s one rainy afternoon, handed the manger a Grace Klein Community pamphlet, told him who we were and what we were about. After just a few minutes of conversation Grace Klein Community was placed on their donation pick up schedule. Volunteers collect donations twice a week and are on call during the week for pick ups if other organizations are no shows.
Our volunteers absolutely love going to pick up food there. The staff at Traders Joe’s are always super nice and never act like we are a burden. They love giving back to the community and wasting as little as possible, which just so happens to be a huge part of what we believe and what we stand for every day. Our volunteers are slowly building friendships with the staff and you can be trusting with us that these friendships continue to grow and develop as the weeks pass. We want Trader Joe’s to know how much we appreciate them.
When our volunteers first started retrieving the donations, we were given mainly snacks and bread. Since building a relationship, they are sharing meats and dairy! That is HUGE! We love Trader Joe’s and hope you get a chance to swing by and show some love yourself.
Trader Joe’s is a huge partnership for us as a community. With these donations we are able to have the office stocked with meats, bread, milk, eggs and snacks to distribute during the week to families in need. Because of Trader Joe’s, Grace Klein Community is able to share healthy food options with families in need almost every day of the week.
Thank you to our neighborhood grocery store for helping feed our community.
