HOME UPDATE
BIRTHDAYS- Three children celebrated their birthdays this month Rhodia on the 3rd turned 17 years old, Lackson on the 10th turned 7 years old and Alex on the 30th turned 7 years. It is always a blessing to see the children get older each year.

SCHOOLS- October is the second month of the third term on the school calendar. During this month the school as usual had normal learning for all the grades both in the morning and afternoon sessions.
KWATHU CHILDREN’S HOME ANNIVERSARY- On October 22nd, 2021, we celebrated our 16th anniversary. The celebrations were packed with fun, dancing and singing. See pictures below.
FEEDING PROGRAM- The feeding program was run smoothly, and all the learners had their meals every day and on good time.
EXTRA ACTIVITY- While school is going on, the kids still help with home chores and make sure they do it well. Gardening was introduced by our new Manager Mr. Lungu and Children have a timetable of watering / taking care of the garden.
DONATIONS- We received some donations for the kids from Mama Jeanette Phiri and her friends from Germany when she came for a short visit this October. The donation was mostly shoes and clothes. We really appreciated the donation because our kids really needed shoes and clothes. Indeed, God answers prayer.

VISITATIONS- We had no visitation this month.
CLINIC CONSTRUCTION- The clinic is completed, only the oblation block (toilets) has few touches remaining. This
project is meant to benefit the children and the community around Kwathu Children’s Home to access the much-needed medical care.
CHICKEN PROJECT
The chicken project did well, and our chickens were all sold out. The Administration came up with this initiative / project to raise money for Kwathu children’s so that we do not have to only depend on donations support.
KWATHU SCHOOL REPORT- The month of October was a very interesting month for both the school and institution at large because two occasions were commemorated. The Independence Day and the Kwathu birthday. The Independence Day was cerebrated on the 15th where all students and teachers fully participated in the organizing of the event. The event was successful as the expectations were met, in which the brief history of the Zambian independence was shared to the students to give them the meaning and the reason for the cerebration.
The 7th graders had their graduation on the 22nd which was a joint cerebration with Kwathu Children’s Home birthday. On this day the 7th graders were awarded certificates of completion of primary education at Kwathu School. On the same day three teachers were invited for swearing in line with the 7th grade examinations.
In the same month, Tr Christine and Tr Hachoose attended a workshop at Kings School, were the School Based Assessment was the major aspect. The ministry of education announced that 30% of the assessment given to the learners from the 5th to the 7th grade will be added to the 70% of their final exams. They also emphasized that correct spellings of names for students and all the necessary details should be correctly spelt and well entered in the system.
On the 29th of October, the head teacher was invited to attend a meeting at Nakatindi school. The meeting was all about the importance of Early Childhood Education (ECE) and the rolls of ECE teachers.
SUCCESSES- The school has been boosted with two members of staff, Mrs Harriet k. Lungu and Don Sianungu, which cushioned the shortage of manpower.
The 7th graders will be sitting for their final examination. Therefore, the school is appreciating the tireless hard work the administration has been putting towards the growth of the school and further commends all the departments of Kwathu for their support.
PROGRESS ON FARMLAND- The works at the farm are really going well. The aquaculture (fish farming) project is really doing
well. On the other side of the farm, we are putting up a house and its slowly taking shape. See pictures below.
