untitled3Emma Hope, daughter of Jeremy and Amanda Shaw, is a beautiful five year old girl who was recently diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins lymphoma.

Non-Hodgkin lymphoma (sometimes called NHL, or just lymphoma) is a cancer that starts in cells called lymphocytes, which are part of the body’s immune system. NHL is not common in children, but it can occur.” – American Cancer Society

After doctors discovered a knot in her neck, she was immediately sent for a CT scan. The CT scan that was performed that afternoon did not look promising and the family was told to be in Birmingham at Children’s Hospital the next morning. After a two hour drive, a team of doctors and nurses did a biopsy and ran further tests. The tests concluded that this little girl, who seemed to have a perfectly normal life ahead of her, is now faced with chemotherapy and further treatments.

This all happened so fast for the Shaw family. Not that any family could ever prepare or be ready for this unexpected event. Emma Hope’s father, Jeremy Shaw, is a youth minister at Redland Baptist Church in Wetumpka, AL. Jeremy has committed his life to serving the Lord and serving others through ministry. Amanda Shaw, Emma Hope’s mother, is a leader and school teacher at East Memorial Christian Academy, while also serving with the youth ministry at Redland Baptist alongside her husband, Jeremy. Emma Hope also has a baby brother, named Eli, who is two years old and shares his sisters smile.

The Shaw family has poured everything into helping others and now they need our help. They are just starting this long road and the reality of the financial burden is still unknown. However, being displaced from their home, extra care for their son Eli, numerous trips to and from Wetumpka/Birmingham, lodging expenses, meals, medical bills, loss of income and so much more are going to quickly become a reality.

Please take a moment to help this family, who love so many others. Please keep them in your prayers as this precious little girl, Emma Hope, battles Non-Hodgkins lymphoma.

Here’s how you can donate to support this family in their unexpected financial situation:
