Seeds of Hope: August 2025 Update from Kwathu

  • by

KWATHU HOME

On August 8th, schools were closed, and some of our children spent time visiting a farm to gain practical experience and exposure to agricultural life. While a few students stayed back to focus on their upcoming final exams, the rest engaged in various activities such as field clearing, tending to birds, and assisting with weeding. The children found the farm experience enjoyable and expressed a desire to revisit during the next break between terms.

KWATHU SCHOOL

On August 7th, Kwathu School held a special day, inviting all parents to collect the progress report books to review their children’s academic performance. This event provided an opportunity for one-on-one discussions between teachers and parents to address the strengths and weaknesses of each child. This termly routine at Kwathu School aims to ensure that teachers and parents collaborate closely in the holistic development of every student.

SENKOBO VILLAGE COMMUNITY OUTREACH

We were pleased to be able to extend our feeding program to Senkobo Village, which is located approximately 25 kilometers away from Livingstone. During this initiative, we were able to provide nutritious meals to 200 individuals. The primary goal of the Kwathu feeding program is to ensure that families and communities facing food insecurity receive at least one meal per day.

TAILORING PROJECT

Under our tailoring project, the women we recruited are progressing well. The Kwathu Tailoring project aims to empower women through sewing training, fostering economic independence and community development. Women acquire skills for starting their own businesses, generating income, and improving their livelihoods. Support also encompasses skills training and business development to ensure the sustainability of their ventures.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH

In August, our organization persisted with the community outreach initiative in Senkobo. This program is designed to educate and empower individuals of all ages and genders on various aspects of self-improvement while also providing spiritual guidance through teachings from the word of God.
