SEPTEMBER 2025 UPDATE

KWATHU HOME

Birthdays

In September, we joyfully celebrated Prisca’s 9th birthday. It was a delightful occasion filled with laughter, delicious cake, and cherished moments. Seeing her radiant smile and excitement made the day truly special as we marked another wonderful year of her life.

SCHOOL

The school has continued to run smoothly, and the teachers are doing their best to ensure that learners are well-equipped with knowledge and essential skills. During the month under review, pupils actively participated in both classroom lessons and outdoor activities, contributing to a well-rounded learning experience.

The school feeding program has also continued successfully, providing at least one nutritious meal each day from Monday to Friday. This initiative ensures that no child attends school hungry and helps promote better concentration and academic performance.

SENKOBO VILLAGE COMMUNITY OUTREACH

In September, we continued our mental health sessions with the ladies in Senkobo, with an attendance ranging between 15 and 19 participants. The focus for the month was on Forgiveness and Boundaries.

The session on Forgiveness followed our previous discussions on grief and anger. We observed that many of the women were still struggling with bitterness resulting from various losses in their lives, and that much of their anger was deeply connected to these experiences. This made the topic of forgiveness especially relevant, helping them understand the importance of releasing resentment as part of emotional healing.

The teaching on Boundaries emphasized the importance of setting personal limits as a way to maintain emotional well-being. Boundaries serve as guidelines or rules that help individuals define acceptable and safe behavior from others, as well as how to respond when those boundaries are crossed.

TAILORING PROJECT

The tailoring project is progressing very well, and the women are showing great improvement in their skills. During the month of September, they were busy designing new styles to meet the needs of their customers, particularly in preparation for Independence Day, which will be celebrated on October 24th, 2025.

This period is an exciting time for many Zambians, as people proudly wear outfits featuring the colors of the national flag to symbolize unity and freedom. The women are working hard to create beautiful, culturally inspired designs that reflect this national pride.

VISITATION

On September 15th, 2025, we were delighted to welcome a group of seven friends from Europe who visited the school for a day. Their time with us was filled with songs, fellowship, and words of encouragement shared with the children and staff. It was a joyful and uplifting experience that strengthened our sense of community and connection.

FARMING PROJECT

During the month of September, we focused on transplanting eggplants and cabbages, as well as regular spraying and watering to ensure healthy crop growth.

Goats: The goats were dipped and treated through deworming to maintain their health. We were delighted to welcome one new kid this month, and we anticipate more births in October.

Land Preparation: Preparations for the rainy season are underway. The team has been preparing the land to plant more maize, which will be used both for sale and as feed (crop residues) for our animals.

Poultry: In September, we did not stock new chickens as the poultry unit underwent maintenance and cleaning. We also sold some of our chickens to evaluate our profit and expenditure for better financial planning.
